Mother who was paralyzed receives $100,000 on 'Regis and Kelly'

The Virginian-Pilot - Dawn Weiss, a mother of two who was shot and paralyzed during a robbery last May at a home in Norfolk, today received a check for $100,000 on the “Live with Regis and Kelly” show. Her husband, Sgt. Mike Weiss, nominated Dawn for the television program’s “Mom’s Dream Come True” award. Dawn Weiss was selected from more than 10,000 entries, according to the program’s producers. The Weisses, who now live in Ocala, Fla., flew to New York with their daughters, Kayla and Destyni, to tape the show. Hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa announced on this morning’s program that they had worked with Kmart to award the family a $100,000 check. The family also will go on a Disney cruise. |
